The Resurgence of Sex and the City

If you've been paying attention to style trends emerging on the streets, or even social media, you'll see a certain energy that we have not seen since the 90's and early 2000's; Sex and the City.

"Women come to New York for the two L's: labels and love." -Carrie Bradshaw

An icon to all journalists in fashion, and anyone with a drive for individuality, Carrie Bradshaw paved the way to 'wearing what you want.' Her style, no matter how obnoxious, no matter how much it 'didn't match;' she wore it with confidence. This saying goes for all of the Sex and the City girls: Charlotte York, our Park Avenue, feminine gallerist, Miranda Hobbes, our opinionated, strong, lawyer, and last but not least, Samantha Jones, our sultry, bold publicist. Their fashion encapsulates what it means to be a confident woman, their clothes (along with their love lives), keep them young on the streets of Manhatten.

What would our Sex and the City girls wear today? With multiple trends coming back into the cycle such as silk midi skirts, loud patterns, slingback kitten heels and more, let's delve into what each of our New York girls would wear today.

Carrie Bradshaw

"A relationship is like couture - if it doesn't fit perfectly. It's a disaster."

Carrie's closet is full of vintage couture, playing into interesting textures and statement pieces. I would style her today in a vintage Fendi top with its mesh material, complemented by a flowy, silk maxi skirt. To tie the clothes together, I'd add statement earrings and bracelets with pops of color with her iconic Carrie nameplate. I loved the thought of this Christian Dior Saddlebag with a yellow graphic print to add another pop of color. Finally, our girl needs vintage Manolo Blahniks of neutral colors, but still individualistic and one-of-a-kind, just like her. This carefree, flowy outfit is perfect for her to run down Fifth Avenue in.

Charlotte York

"I'm pretty and I'm smart... I'm a catch!"

Charlotte, Park Avenue princess, needs soft, feminine pieces in her closet. I imagine pink would be an overall theme. For a date night to find her knight after a long day at the gallery, Charlotte would wear this floral Realisation Par dress, matched with some baby pink, vintage Miu Miu kitten heels. Dainty gold jewelry to complement, but not distract from her outfit. A Fendi purse with flowers attached all over it ties in the feminine, floral theme, and finally, a flower claw clip to tie her hair up to show off the halter neck of her dress. Gorgeous!

Miranda Hobbes

"You can take me out of Manhatten, but not out of my shoes."

With Miranda, simplicity is key. If not simplicity, then practicality. I love the idea of classy meets practicality; an outfit Miranda can run into the office to pick up papers before drinks with the girls. I'd put Miranda in this unique sweater vest that goes off to the side, paired with a denim maxi skirt. I love these vintage Miu Miu kitten heels. They give off a certain maturity that I know Miranda would love. For accessories, we keep it again, simple and practical. All Miranda needs is a dainty watch, a large bag for her on-the-go work things, and finally, a statement earring. All work, and fun!

Samantha Jones

"Hello, my name is Fabulous."

Off to another hot new restaurant opening to pick up her latest man, Samantha must look her hottest. Sultry as ever, Samantha embodies the boldness of Roberto Cavalli. This sexy dress, full of patterns and textures would look perfect on Samantha. To continue on the trend of bold, this teal, beaded Gucci mini bag matches the slight blues in the dress. Up to the skies in some matching, teal Jimmy Choo pumps, she can weed out the men who are intimidated by her tallness. Of course, her outfit would not be complete without some patterned statement earrings and a thick gold arm cuff. Happy hunting, Samantha!
